In Loving Memory of Dion

Dion Paul Pollero, born April 29, 1987, in Whanganui, tragically passed away on May 7, 2016, at the young age of 29, in a road accident on State Highway 29 near Poripori, Tauranga.

Dion leaves behind a profound void in the lives of his fiancée, daughter, siblings, parents, and a wide circle of family and friends.

A man of diverse passions, Dion cherished his Holden cars, the Spartans, Vikings, and the thrill of V8 engines. His love for life extended beyond the mechanical, encompassing his appreciation for heavy metal, poetry, throat singing, gaming, and the simple joy of a good read. He was a true bookworm with a sharp mind, excelling in mathematics, philosophy, and mechanical engineering.

Dion graduated from Odyssey in 2012, a testament to his dedication and strength in his journey of recovery.

He possessed a unique blend of strength and sensitivity. He was an empath, deeply understanding of others, and fiercely protective of those he cared for. His wit was sharp, and his words, though direct, always carried a sense of truth and honesty. Known for his strong masculine energy, Dion was a leader, a force to be reckoned with when channeled correctly.

A testament to his resilience, Dion had achieved seven years of sobriety and five years of freedom from self-harm. Beneath the strong exterior lay a softie, vulnerable when those closest to him pushed his buttons – a vulnerability that only deepened his connection to those he loved.

His presence in the world was undeniable. He offered unwavering strength and security. His athleticism shone through in his passion for sports, particularly league and cricket.

Dion will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished.
